One large issue is what's left behind after these mulchers. The shavings are not like Mulch you would think of that you use for landscaping. These mulching heads leave behind large shavings from the underbrush and trees that take years to decompose. These pieces range from 6in all the way up to several feet. Not only is this unsightly but it prevents any new growth.
This is a photo of a recently mulched property. Mainly consisting of heavy yaupon and oak trees. The only regrowth is from the yaupon that was shaved down. These mulcher heads are only capable of getting a few inches towards the ground so they are not capable of getting the root system out. Also, they leave the bottom few inches of the stumps sticking out of the ground. Which is basically like having hundreds of spikes scattered across your land. However, the worst part is what's been hidden under the mulch!
These are the stumps left behind from the mulching heads. You can see here that this is as low as they are able to get them. Then buried under several inches of shavings. Unfortunately, this landowner was unaware that these stumps had been left until he started construction on one of his barns. Not only are the stumps a problem but the root structure from the mulched trees still exists and must be removed from under foundations.
This is after we root raked and cleanup up this property from the aftermath of mulching. Unfortunately the land owner had been taken advantage of by the mulching company and had to have everything cleaned up afterwards. If he would have had the underbrush and trees removed correctly the first time, then he would have saved thousands.
